Oral solution for pigs

INDICATIONS

For the synchronisation of oestrus in sexually mature gilts intended for breeding.

COMPOSITION

Contains 0,4 % m/v altrenogest in an oily suspension.

Butylated hydroxytoluene (E321)                                   0,007 % m/v

Butylated hydroxyanisole (E320)                                    0,007 % m/v

CAUTION

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Store at or below 25 ºC.
  • Protect from direct sunlight.
  • Store away from food and feed.
  • After first opening of the container, use within 30 days.

WARNINGS

  • Withdrawal period: Meat and offal: 9 days.
  • Do not administer to male animals, pregnant sows, or sows with uterine infections.
  • KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN, UNINFORMED PERSONS AND ANIMALS.
  • Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling the product.
  • Regumate® Porcine should not enter water courses as this may be dangerous for fish and other aquatic organisms.
  • Dispose of any containers, disposable equipment and any other waste after use, in accordance with National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008) and do not reuse for any other purpose.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering Regumate® Porcine to pigs

  • Women who are pregnant, or suspected to be pregnant, should not use Regumate® Porcine.
  • Women of childbearing age should handle Regumate® Porcine with extreme care.
  •  Regumate® Porcine should not be handled by persons with known or suspected progesterone-dependent tumours or thrombo-embolic disorders.
  • Direct contact with the skin should be avoided.
  • Personal protective clothing (gloves and overalls) must be worn when handling Regumate® Porcine. Porous gloves may let the product pass through. Transcutaneous absorption may be even higher when the area is covered by an occlusive material, such as latex or rubber gloves.
  • Accidental spillage on the skin should be washed off immediately with soap and water.
  • Wash hands after treatment and before meals.
  • In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse abundantly with water and get medical attention.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE – USE ONLY AS DIRECTED

For use on cycling nulliparous gilts for the synchronisation of oestrus.

One dose of 5 mℓ delivers 20 mg altrenogest.

Gilts

One dose of 5 mℓ per gilt, per day, for 18 consecutive days, given orally with feed for immediate consumption.

Group feeding on the floor

Feed should be presented in such a manner that each pig is allowed sufficient floor space to get equal access to the feed.

Once the pigs have started feeding, dispense one dose of Regumate® Porcine as a top-dressing on the feed in front of each pig.

Part consumed feed must be disposed of with other waste feed and not given to other animals.

Administration

  1. Remove the cap and the obturator.
  2. Measure the clinical dose of 5 mℓ using the dosing cup provided.
  3. Pour the dose on the feed.
  4. Close the bottle with the obturator and the screwable cap after each use.

PRESENTATION

Clear, pale yellow odourless solution, presented in a non-pressurised 540 mℓ and 1 ℓ aluminium bottle. Provided with an external, translucent plastic dosing cup. The closure system comprises of an obturator prolonged by a plastic ring inserted in the bottle neck with a screwable cap.

Not all pack sizes may necessarily be marketed.
