MSD Animal Health gets involved for Mandela Day

Midrand SPCA was visited on the 16th July by both MSD Animal Health and Hills Pet Nutrition members of staff and family to assist with a vaccination drive for the nearby townships. It was a chilly morning but spirits were high nonetheless with eager dog owners starting to queue up for their pets’ vaccinations from as early as 8 am. Each dog that was brought in received a health check by a volunteer veterinarian and then moved on to receive a Nobivac Canine-1 DAPPv vaccine, a Nobivac Rabies vaccine, Exspot treatment for Ticks, Fleas and Flies and finally, a Quantel deworming tablet strategically hidden in a Vienna as a reward for being a star patient! Some of the community members arrived with their feline friends as well who were also vaccinated and dewormed. The owners were not forgotten and could help themselves to hot chocolate and biscuits too.The day was a great success and saw a turnout of 275 dogs and 3 cats which was a great improvement on the 2010 turnout of 200 dogs. It was an amazing experience for MSD Animal Health to be involved and to do our bit for the Midrand community in the spirit of Mandela Day!
