Porcilis® ERY is an inactivated vaccine recommended for the active immunisation of pigs as an aid in the control of swine erysipelas.

Storage Instructions:

  • Store in the dark between 2ºC and 8ºC. Do not freeze.
  • Allow the vaccine to reach room temperature (20ºC and 25ºC) gradually before use.
  • Avoid prolonged or repetitive exposure to high ambient temperatures.
  • Protect from exposure to direct sunlight.

Composition:

Porcilis® ERY is an inactivated vaccine containing Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae antigen strain M2 (serotype 2) in an aqueous adjuvant.

Contents:

Each 2 ml dose of Porcilis® ERY contains 50 i.u. Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae antigen strain M2 (serotype 2) in an aqueous adjuvant. The vaccine contains 0,05 % formaldehyde as a preservative.

Warnings:

  • DO NOT USE DURING PREGNANCY OR THE MATING PERIOD. DO NOT VACCINATE BOARS.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Destroy any unused vaccine by, for example, burning and dispose of all vaccine containers after vaccination. Do not mix the vaccine with other vaccines.
  • The vaccine should be protected from direct sunlight.
  • Do not store partially used containers for future use and use the entire contents when opened.
  • Opened bottles (vials) not used within 10 hours, should be destroyed.
  • Shake well before use and at regular intervals during the vaccination process.
  • Do not mix the vaccine with other vaccines or substances.
  • Accidental self-vaccination may lead to a severe local allergic reaction. Consult a physician.
  • Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals.
  • Although this vaccine has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

Precautions:

  • Vaccinate healthy animals only.
  • Observe aseptic precautions. Ensure that all vaccination equipment (needles, syringes, etc.) are clean and sterile prior to use.
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and sterile during vaccination.
  • It is essential to adhere to the vaccination programme to ensure a satisfactory immune status.
  • It is good vaccination practice when handling the vaccine to avoid contact with the eyes, hands and clothing.

Directions for Use:

Use only as directed. DO NOT USE DURING PREGNANCY OR THE MATING PERIOD. DO NOT VACCINATE BOARS.

Vaccination Programme:

Pigs are to be vaccinated from an age of 10 weeks. Vaccination is repeated after 4 weeks. Booster vaccinations are given to sows during every lactation period. Vaccinations to gilts should be given more than 2 weeks before mating.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Inject 2 ml deep intramuscularly in the neck behind the ear.
  • Allow the vaccine to gradually reach room temperature (20ºC and 25ºC) prior to use.
  • Shake well before use and at regular intervals during the vaccination process.
  • Remove the aluminium overseal and the vaccine is ready for use.
  • Vaccinate healthy animals only.

Vaccination Reactions:

Vaccination reactions are restricted to a slight, transient rise in body temperature, an occasional mild transient swelling and some reluctance to move in a limited proportion of animals.

Presentation:

20 ml (10 doses), 50 ml (25 doses), 100 ml (50 doses), 250 ml (125 doses) glass vials each packed in a cardboard box.
