Indication
High-dose hormone-free growth stimulant for improved body mass gain and feed conversion in cattle of any age and any sex in feedlots and on good grazing plus supplement. It improves the beef fat ration in the carcass by reducing fat deposition. Do not use for breeding animals. Use for slaughter animals only.

Composition
Each implant contains 72 mg Zeranol (four pellets, each pellet containing 18 mg Zeranol)

Warnings

  • DO NOT USE IN BREEDING ANIMALS.
  • IMPLANT PELLETS ON THE BACK OF THE EAR ONLY.
  • Do not use implant area for human or animal consumption.
  • No withdrawal period for meat.
  • Avoid crushing pellets.
  • Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals.
  • Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

Directions for Use - USE ONLY AS DIRECTED

Dosage

  • One implant containing 72 mg Zeranol (4 pellets) is administered to each animal.
  • The 72 mg Zeranol (4 pellets) is contained in one division of the multiple dose cartridge.
  • There are ten doses in each cartridge.
  • The cartridge is designed to be used with a special implant gun.

Route of Administration

  • The implant site is subcutaneous, between the skin and cartilage on the back side of the ear and below the midline of the ear by means of a special implanter.

Site of Implantation

  • With the animal suitably restrained, the skin on the outer surface of the ear should be cleaned - scrape off debris and wipe the intended puncture site with a piece of cotton moistened with alcohol or disinfectant.
  • The implant must not be placed closer to the head than the edge of the cartilage ring of the ear.
  • The location of insertion of the needle is a point toward the tip of the ear and at least a needle length away from the intended deposition site.
  • Care should be taken to avoid injuring the major blood vessels or cartilage of the ear.

Method of Use

  • Do not remove the cap of the cartridge containing the implants.
  • Place the cartridge (D) (with the capped end to the front) into the slot at the top of the implanter magazine (marked A on the diagram).
  • Gently push the cartridge into the slot until it clicks into place.
  • The implanter is then ready for use.
  • Take the ear of the animal firmly with the free hand (in the manner shown in Figure 1).
  • Insert the needle into the subcutaneous tissue, between the skin and the cartilage on the back side of the ear and below the midline of the ear (Figure 2)
  • After inserting the needle to its full extent, squeeze the trigger (E) while gradually removing the needle so that the pellets of the implant will be deposited in a single row.
  • Withdraw the implanter. The cartridge will advance one groove in the magazine and the next implant is now ready for use.
  • When all the implants have been administered, the cartridge will fall out of the bottom of the magazine and may be replaced by a new one.
  • To change the needle, loosen the needle-locking nut (labelled F in Figure 3) and replace the needle. Tighten the nut finger tight and the implanter is ready for use.

Common Implantation Problems
Incorrect implantation might cause a decreased performance of the product. The most common implantation problems that occur are:


Presentation
Each cardboard box contains 2 X 10 dose cartridge implants OR 10 X 10 dose cartridge implants. Each cartridge is individually sealed in a plastic envelope.
