Warnings:

  • Do not slaughter fowls for human consumption within 21 days after vaccination.
  • Vaccinate only healthy fowls.
  • Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals.
  • Although this vaccine has been extensively tested under a variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

Precautions:

  • Do not mix this vaccine with other vaccines or administer simultaneously with other live vaccines.
  • Use entire contents when first opened.
  • Care should be exercised to prevent contaminating  the hands, eyes and clothing with the vaccine.
  • Destroy all unused vaccine and  the container by burning.
  • Fowls should not be placed on contaminated premises. Exposure should be avoided immediately after vaccination, because it takes up to 10 days to develop resistance.
  • Susceptible fowls on the same premises should be vaccinated at the same time. If this is not possible, then strict isolation and separate caretakers should be employed for non-vaccinated units. Efforts should be taken to reduce stress conditions at the time the vaccine is administered.
  • The capacity of this vaccine to produce satisfactory results depends on many factors, including but not limited to conditions of storage and handling by the user, administration of the vaccine, health and responsiveness of individual animals and degree of field exposure. Therefore, directions for use should be followed carefully.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE - USE ONLY AS DIRECTED
Read full directions below carefully:

  • Do not open and prepare the vaccine until ready to begin vaccination immediately after mixing.
  • Reconstituted vaccine should be used within 1 hour after reconstitution.

Vaccination programme
Many factors must be considered in determining the proper vaccination programme for a particular farm or poultry operation. To be fully effective, the vaccine must be administered to healthy receptive fowls held in a proper environment under good management. In addition, the response may be modified by the age of the fowls and the immune status. Seldom does one vaccination under field conditions produce complete protection for all individuals in a given flock. The amount of protection required will vary with the type of operation and the degree of exposure that a flock is likely to encounter. For these reasons a programme of periodic revaccination
may be required.

Preparation of the vaccine

Drinking water administration

DO NOT OPEN AND MIX THE VACCINE UNTIL READY TO BEGIN VACCINATION IMMEDIATELY AFTER MIXING.

Drinking water for vaccination should be mixed with powdered skimmed milk to stabilise the vaccine virus. The powdered skimmed milk should be added to the water at the rate of 80 gram
(about 6 – 7 heaped tablespoonfuls) per 40 litre i.e. 0,2% (2 g/litre).
1.  Assemble the vaccine and equipment needed
to vaccinate the entire flock at one time.
2.  Do not open and mix the vaccine until ready for
     use.
3.  Remove the tear-off seal from the vaccine vial
     without disturbing the stopper.
4.  Remove the rubber stopper from the vaccine
vial and rehydrate the vaccine by filling the vial
about half-full with clean cool non-chlorinated
drinking water to which powdered skimmed
     milk has been  added.
5.  Reseat the stopper and shake the vial to thoroughly dissolve the vaccine.
Dinking water administrationFor Fowls: 10 weeks of age and older

Thoroughly clean and rinse all watering containers so that no residual disinfectants remain. Withhold water for 1 – 2 hours (depending on ambient temperature) before vaccination so the fowls are thirsty. Dilute the vaccine immediately before use with the  cool, clean non-chlorinated water containing the powdered skimmed milk. Pour the dissolved vaccine material into:
40 litres of water for each 1 000 fowls
Distribute the diluted vaccine so that all the fowls are able to drink within a one-hour period and do not add any more water until the vaccine is consumed. Avoid placing water in direct sunlight.
